Tattoo:   tat·too noun, plural -toos, verb, -tooed, -too·ing. –noun 1. the act or practice of marking the skin with indelible patterns, pictures, legends, etc., by making punctures in it and inserting pigments.

I have always had a fascination with tattoos, when i finally decided to start photographing them, I wanted to do it in a unique style. I decided to start shooting studio style photography but let the tattoo be the main focus of the shot, yet include some form of the body to show that even if the tattoo were not there it would still be a good photograph.

Life magazine estimated in 1936 that 10 million Americans, or approximately 6% of the population had at least one tattoo.A 2006 a study done by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans between 18 and 50 are tattooed; that's almost one in four. And the survey showed that about 36% of Americans age 18 to 29 have at least one tattoo!
